The City of Bonn

Within the past decade, Bonn has become both a sought-after platform for the debate on global issues and a place to learn about sustainability and related issues. A number of UN agencies are based in Bonn amongst which is the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Bonn has been a member of ICLEI since 1999 as well as the venue of several international Mayor’s Conferences, LAB pilot city and seat of the ICLEI World Secretariat since 2010. Bonn’s Mayor Nimptsch is the Vice Chair of the World Mayors Council on Climate Change.

The City is constantly working on improving its sustainable performance by adopting local action programmes, successfully establishing forms of cooperation with cities all over the world and by launching activities in the field of education for a sustainable development.
