Mayor of Bonn invites to Resilient Cities 2016

In this Welcome Address by the City of Bonn to Resilient Cities 2016, Mayor Ashok Sridharan says:

Resilient Cities Asia-Pacific 2016 opens March 2nd

Beginning tomorrow, over 500 delegates will convene in Melaka, Malaysia for the 2nd annual Asia-Pacific Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation. Organized by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and hosted by the Melaka State Government, Melaka Historic City Council, and the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), the event will shall be held in conjunction with the 16th International Convention on Melaka Twin Cities with the theme, ‘Building Local Resilience Towards Liveable Cities’. The event builds on the success of the inaugural RCAP forum held last year in Bangkok, Thailand.

Resilient Cities webinar: "Risk transfer and climate insurance at the local level" was held yesterday at 15pm CET. The webinar looked into the various roles of the insurance industry in physical and financial risk transfer for cities. Butch Bacani, Programme Leader of the UNEP FI Principle for Sustainable Insurance Initiative (PSI) - the largest collaboration between the United Nations and the insurance industry - and Lykke Leonardsen, Head of Climate Unit from the city of Copenhagen made their arguments about achieving a risk aware and risk-proof city environment with the help of the insurance sector.
