Resilient Cities 2013 welcomes over 500 participants

The Resilient Cities 2013 Congress concluded last week and was a resounding success! Steering its numerous sessions and parallel events were over 500 attendees comprised of speakers, participants and volunteers.

To relieve its key moments, check out the congress highlights and liveblog including posts, interviews and photos. Keep an eye on the congress website - all the presentations will be available online next week. Congress report is already in preparation and will be published in a few weeks time.

World Environment Day 2013 offers food for thought

Celebrated on the 5 June since 1972, this year the World Environment Day (WED) focuses on food waste and features the Think.Eat.Save campaign to highlight this issue.

Think.Eat.Save campaign of the Save Food Initiative is a partnership between the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and trade fair organizer Messe Düsseldorf, with support from partners such as Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP) and Feeding the 5,000. It endorsed the Resilient Urban Food Systems Forum at the Resilient Cities 2013 congress which concluded on 2 June 2013.

Have an idea for how to address climate change? MIT Climate CoLab invites you to work with people from all over the world to develop proposals to combat climate change. Current contests address low-carbon energy, building efficiency, geoengineering, and many other topics:

A grand prize of $10,000 will be awarded, and writers of winning proposals will present their ideas to the media, government officials, business executives, and scientists at MIT.
